Megaplier turns $250,000 win into $1 million prize

A Maryland Lottery player is exceedingly happy, or soon will be – depending on whether or not the lucky person has checked Tuesday night’s Mega Millions results. That player is holding a $1 million ticket that correctly matched five of six winning numbers and earned the game’s second-tier prize.

What’s that you say? The second-tier prize for Mega Millions is $250,000, not $1 million? That’s correct (sort of). Last night’s lucky Maryland winner not only matched those five numbers but also spent an extra $1 to add the Megaplier – an optional prize multiplier that automatically turns the second-tier prize to $1 million.

If you bought a Mega Millions ticket for the Sept. 24 drawing at the Broadneck Exxon gas station at 317 Frontage Road in Annapolis, check your numbers to see if you are the state’s newest millionaire. The winning numbers are 04-11-32-39-40 with Gold Mega Ball 33. Our lucky player isn’t the only winner; thanks to the megaplier, the retailer gets a $2,500 commission for the sale.

If your ticket won, you have 182 days to claim the prize. You must come in person to Maryland Lottery headquarters at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore.
