Jackpot rolls, four states have second-tier winners

Congratulations, Maryland Powerball players. Someone bought a winning second-tier ticket worth $1 million for the Saturday, July 12 drawing. Check your numbers if you bought your ticket at Happy 40 Liquors in Elkton.

Maryland was one of four states with second-tier winners, joining New York, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. No one won the jackpot, which rolled to $50 million with a $29.9 million cash option for the Wednesday, July 16 drawing. The lucky ticket matched all five white balls, missing only the Power Ball number. Check your ticket to see if it carries the winning numbers of 2, 3, 7, 23, 51 and Power Ball 26. This latest $1 million win is the seventh second-tier Powerball win in Maryland this year.

For selling the second-tier winning ticket, the retailer receives a $2,500 bonus. The winner has 182 days to claim the prize in person at Lottery headquarters, located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore.
