Sandra Stocksdale Wins $10,000 on 10x Cash Scratch-Off
Reisterstown woman wins top 10X Cash scratch-off prize
A Reisterstown legal secretary and her travel buddy are headed for a summer vacation cruise, thanks to a $10,000 Maryland Lottery 10x Cash scratch-off win.
Sandy Stocksdale of Reisterstown, a loyal Lottery scratch-off player for about a decade, became emotional when she entered the Lottery Winner’s Lounge and saw the giant check for $10,000 with her name on it. “I’m all choked up,” she said, letting her friend do some of the talking for her.
The legal secretary with Gebhardt & Smith in Baltimore often buys Mega Millions and Powerball tickets for the office pool along with scratch-offs for herself. She picked up her winning $10 ticket on her way home one night at Jerry’s Discount Liquors at 14 Westminster Pike in Reisterstown. Imagine her surprise when she found herself holding a top-prize winner with no one around to share her good news! Happy about her good fortune, she returned to the store to tell the clerks about her win.
“They were all thrilled,” the grandmother said. “They have never sold a top ticket before.”
This is her biggest win as well, following a $2,000 scratch-off win in 2011.
She went from the store to visit friends hanging out at the Moose Lodge in town. “I didn’t start shaking until I was in the Moose Lodge,” she said.
In addition to a cruise vacation, she said her 9-year-old grandson and new granddaughter “will be VERY happy.” She has already shared the news with her daughter, of course.
