$100,000 Scratch-Off Truly Proves to be “Golden Ticket”

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Julian Rodriguez - Golden TicketA Saturday morning of Lottery fun turned into pure gold for Julian Rodriguez of Halethorpe. He and his brother, Rodrigo, were enjoying some Lottery games at Charm City Liquors. While Rodrigo’s game of choice is Racetrax, Julian is partial to scratch-offs. Down to his last bit of cash, Julian asked Rodrigo to take his remaining $10 and buy a scratch-off for him. Lucky for Julian, Rodrigo chose the Golden Ticket. That decision put $100,000 in Julian’s pocket.

The Rodriguez brothers, who are originally from Mexico, were overwhelmed when they realized they’d won. “We were shaking,” said Rodrigo, smiling broadly. “We hugged and were shouting,” he added. “Then we called our family.”

“I couldn’t believe I won” stated the 30-year-old Julian, who works as a building insulator. Julian plans to buy a house with his winnings. “I want to help the economy,” said Rodriquez, laughing.

The winning ticket was purchased at Charm City Liquors located at 4367 Hollins Ferry Rd. in Baltimore.
