10th Annual National Problem Gambling Awareness Week

Monday, March 5th, 2012

The Maryland Lottery is joining in the campaign to recognize National Problem Gambling Awareness Week. This year, the grass-roots public awareness and outreach campaign that is lead by the National Council on Problem Gambling, is being celebrated March 4-10.

The goal of this campaign is to educate the general public and health care professionals about the warning signs of problem gambling and raise awareness about the help that is available both locally and nationally.

Studies indicate that nearly 3.4% of the Maryland population has a gambling problem. The Maryland Lottery encourages anyone who thinks they may have a gambling problem or suspects a friend or family may to seek help by visiting mdgamblinghelp.org or calling 1-800-GAMBLER. Both resources are free and available 24-hours a day.
