6-6-6 Lucky Number for Lottery’s Pick 3 Players

Friday, September 6th, 2013

Triple 6’s equal player payday

Think 666 is unlucky? Think again! Thanks to the 6-6-6 result of the Thursday, Sept. 5, evening Pick 3 drawing, thousands of Maryland Lottery players are all smiles about winning loads of cash.

That Pick 3 drawing paid out more than $1.4 million to happy players.

According to Lottery officials, big payouts are common in Pick 3 and Pick 4 games when triples and quadruples are drawn. On Saturday, Aug. 31, the midday Pick 4 result of 2-2-2-2 paid out almost $5.5 million to players.

“Lottery players are a superstitious bunch,” said Carole Everett, director of communications at the Maryland Lottery. “They love to play patterns of numbers and dates of special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.”

Although not an everyday occurrence, triples and quadruples do pop up in Pick 3 and Pick 4 drawings. In the last 35 years, for example, 6-6-6 popped up in evening Pick 3 drawings 14 times. This is its first occurrence in an evening Pick 3 drawing in Maryland since 2010. The triples 2-2-2 and 9-9-9, by comparison, have occurred only 18 times and 16 times, respectively, in the evening Pick 3 drawing in nearly three decades of play.

Crap’s been rigged since the beginning, example I once played 5991 for 23 straight days.. mid and evening for 5.00 a drawing, did not make it on the 24th day and it hit…the odds of that happening are the same as jumping off your house and landing on the moon…fixed and rigged

gary: Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance. Numbers drawn for each of the Lottery’s daily drawing games are arbitrary. Every time a ball is drawn, it is an independent and unique event, completely unaffected by what ball was drawn seconds, hours, days, or weeks earlier. In addition, each ball drawn has the same exact chance of being drawn as any other ball in the machine, at any point in time.

Although every ball has the same exact chance of coming up per draw, random drawings do occasionally produce unusual results. Because of this, similar numbers, the same numbers, or even what appears to be a pattern or sequence may be drawn from time to time. I assure you, however, that drawings conducted are fair and random.

One thing that has always bothered me was that you know when to close a number out if it might break the bank so to speak, yet we have no knowledge of who’s playing what, example I would not play 345 if like 60% of the people are playing that number, reason being Md lottery or any State for the matter will only pay out “major payouts” a couple times a year then used it for publicity reasons to suck in those who might not play or play that much. My conspiracy theory is that the numbers for the next drawings are determined at least 30 minutes prior to drawing (based on what is more profitable) by using computer chips painted into the black numbers and when they are bopping up and down are programmed to another computer chip located in the hull which in turned has a magnetic effect and therefore rises to it. So in reality when you play you are paying your number against what others are playing and hoping your number is played by the fewest people playing your same number (lol). Yes I believe the world is round and we landed on the moon (maybe). Look I’m just ranting in a fun for argument’s sake just to get it off my chest, I guess after over 20 years of playing and constantly losing my one number or it hitting a day or two later leaves you to wonder how can it be all just bad luck, one year true story (1995) I played everyday Mid and evening (pick 3 and 4) and that year I lost 195,250 all by missing by one number and trust me only about 20,000 of that would have been on a straight hit, what I won was a little under a thousand I probably played about 3,000 (est) that was the one year I actually keep tract just to see. that 5991 I had mention before it took another 2 and 1/2 year for any combo of those numbers to hit….very strange that’s like 1,800 drawings, anyway I still like playing Md.Lottery and will continue to be pawn but I wish you all would do what W.VA does on their website, they can show you how many people hit that day and their historic search will bring up that number in any order they came up. Thank you for replying and good luck (not mind tho)

Where can I locate how many winners are still out there with a certain retailer?

          • mdlottery

Sheri: The retailer locations of our winners are random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be.

            • tennyson

Gary, it’s just like Debbie said, it’s gambling and when you play you know you stand a chance of winning or losing. I play the same set of numbers when I play. Sometimes they hit and sometimes they don’t. Again I say it’s gambling.

        • Debbie Mikolajczyk

Gary – perhaps you should stop playing the Pick 3 or Pick 4 numbers since you consider it a “conspiracy”. The following is an excerpt from the Discovery Channel regarding what states do with their lottery balls and machines:
          – The balls are weighed before and after each drawing to detect any weighting or other tampering with the balls themselves (your theory of computer chips doesn’t work here)
          – All machines and balls are kept in locked vaults while not in use.
          – Several identical sets of balls are kept. Right before the lottery takes place, one set is chosen at random.

Just some thoughts to shove your theories into outer space.
One must remember, playing the lottery is a GAME of Chance … meaning the chance you could win or lose.
Like you, most times I lose, but then I took a chance knowing I might not win.

          • gary nelson

I was saying it is possible chips can be used, and with ease, and if you think those lottery people are going to let you in their secret room to watch them weigh them that’s even a bigger conspiracy. Stop believing everything you see on TV, plus every ball has a chip in it (with a code) making sure all weigh the same, it’s the chip in the chute that is program to a certain ball that cause a magnetic effect causing that ball to rise, now it’s a theory but I have watch them drawings and have seen to many times how a ball will shoot up like a rocket blasting off. The fact that they can close out a number (to many people playing it) tells you they know how much they want to pay out that night, and a number like 666 hitting is nothing more than a publicity stunt to get more people to play. I hope you hit and good luck

            • Jesse Sese

Gary – play with a positive attitude and you will win like I did, twice last a couple of weeks ago..2x $2600=$5200. Twice last year -$2700. Pick 4 Evenings are what I usually play. With positive attitude and a little know-how I know I will win another big one before the year is over. Suspicious mind will only cloud your thinking and devising a plan to win. Love you like a play
              with happy attitude.

        • goteki45

Easy solution is to stop wagering, and you won’t have to worry about “the conspiracy”.

        • Barbara

I do not understand? How can you lose $195,250.00. If you played both mid day and evening for a year, that would be $2.00 times 365 which is $730.00? I am just trying to understand your concept here…..

      • ronnie goode

        Yeah sure they are

    • goteki45

You do realize that in a pick 4 game, there are 10,000 combinations that can be drawn right?

    • Philip Piazza

The balls knew you were playing? LOL

    • April

I agree and I’ve seen the same numbers drawn twice! Really!?

    • Lovin’onlymii Wilkins

Same happened to me.., the 2 times 2222 did come out, I went to play and they sold out. I’ve been playing that number for yrs. Before last yr, the last time it came out was about 8-10 yrs ago. I can’t win to save my life!
