It doesn’t happen often, he told lottery officials, but whenever it does – he listens. The “it” is a lucky feeling, and once again it has steered a Baltimore man in the right direction. Straight toward a $50,000 Cash Up Doubler scratch-off win.
The former Amtrak employee, is a fairly regular lottery player. He was in line waiting to buy a Mega Millions ticket when he heard the old familiar voice. “I’m not sure if you’d say I feel it or hear it, but either way, it’s gotten me out of some jams in the past.”
The message this time concerned the lottery’s Cash Up Doubler scratch-off game that he saw, among many other instant tickets, in the store’s display. “I bought it, scratched it and stood there stunned. I couldn’t believe it was real.” The winner told us that the cashier nearly collapsed when he showed her the winning ticket.
The 61-year-old resident of Baltimore’s Park Heights neighborhood plans to dedicate a portion of his win to a Big Brother-type mentoring group with which he’s involved. He found his good fortune at Downtown Tobacco, 500 West Lexington Street in Baltimore.
