Public awaits news of their identity

Still reeling from their new multi-millionaire status, an Abingdon couple arrived at Lottery Headquarters to claim the first Powerball jackpot won in Maryland. The happy twosome, still contemplating whether to disclose their identities to the public, had the only winning ticket for the September 7th drawing.

“We’re thrilled to finally have a big Powerball jackpot win in Maryland,” said Communications Director Carole Everett. “It’s been quite a winning week here at the Maryland Lottery. We also welcomed a $200,000 Powerball winner, as well as a $1 million scratch-off winner.”

The lucky Powerball ticket was purchased in Harford County at Wine World, located at 406-A Constant Friendship Blvd. in Abingdon. Wine World owner Elizabeth LaBruto expressed her delight upon hearing the news, “I’m happy to hear that Maryland sold its first top-tier jackpot ticket, jazzed that it happened in this community and thrilled that Wine World was a part of it.  Good things happen to good people and Wine World customers are the best!” Wine World will receive a $25,000 commission for selling the ticket.

I am so happy to see someone here in MD win. As the saying goes “you have to be in it to win it”. That is my plan to be in it. I have always felt I am going to win big. Though I win big everyday with my faith and the family I have. And Yes I plan to share.  I share my small winnings now as I get them. God Bless this family and everyone that hit.

      Smith,
Congradulations!!! and My advice is that do put all things in your money but put yourself in God and your family. Money can bring good things and bad things as well, depending on the users. Please, focus on your family to have all the best together, love your husband and wife and children. Help  the poor and make sure that you are saved to have an eternal life in Christ. About donation, the right place to charity is  The Fistula Foundation that is been saving and helping money women and children.  May God be with you and do not for get to go to church.

Congrats!!!! I play Megaball n Powerball every week religiously but nothing grrrrrrrrrr need too pay off a hefty BG&E  bill before they turn it off and that wouldn’t be good since I’m on oxygen but ya;ll pray maybe some of your luck will wear off

    • Msthighzz

If you’re on oxygen you shouldn’t be spending your $ to play lottery anyway, use that $ for your light bill

      • Anonymous

I’m trying to win money to pay BG&E 4 dollars a week wouldn’t help when a bill is extremely high. This world is all for the rich and if your from another country I will DIE without oxygen so all I’m doing is asking for help believe me ASKING makes me feel bad enough but I guess people making negative remarks is ok its not your LIFE

        • Ravens Lady

Right, $4 will not make one bit of difference to BGE.  Even if the bill was only $100.  Good luck, many of us are in that boat.

        • Pickles325

          Why are you on oxygen.

      • Mthompson

The dollar or two she spends on the lottery won’t pay her BG&E bill.  I assume your head is back in the sand now so you probably won’t read this response.

      • rickscoins

sorry but try to take on a 2nd job and use that money to pay that bill . i work 1 full time job and
        2 part time jobs .

you should not be asking for help here. it is to congratulate the winners and you would need to apply for energy assistant.

    That’s Awesome!!!

  • Flhogan

congratulations to a very lucky couple.

  • Ksclee

Congrats on your win, but DON’T let anyone know who you are.  You will never have a peaceful night sleep after that if you do.

  • James

Keep your identy hidden, if you have to dont spend on anything big and wait about a couple months, live normal like you have, then move to another state and tell no one. You are only asking for problems letting others know, your phone will be ringing off the hook, all kinds of charities will be calling non stop, find one good charity or better yet just donate some funds to places like the soup Kitchens that help out on Christmas, Thanksgiving and so forth, set aside an amount just for that, your were blessed, take care of yourselves and close family, spread the cash out in different trust worthy banks not all in one. put a good sizable chunk in safety deposit boxes. You have enought where you dont have to worry about banks interests, dont trust them, get into federal credit union, live happy, congrats

    • Lenette Faulcon

James, are you a former jackpot winner. It sounds like you know what you’re talking about, is it from experience you speak. All of the tips sound like great advice.

    • Beverly

that was by far the best advice anyone could have given. congrats to the winners and they should take your advice seriously.

  • Judith

I am so happy for that couple that give me some hope. One day I might be a lucky winner as well. Again I am happy for them.

It’s a miracle. I’m surprised anyone in MD ever wins lottery at all.  I’ve been playing the same 4 digit number for 8 years and it’s never come out straight.

    • Amburgkid

So have I.Playing this one number for 10 Years. For it to not hit straight ever.Thats a shame,Sister said i could of put that in the bank.To late now.

    • Jwood45389

dont play a number because u wqnt it to come out play the number you see in your daily travels or someone that cuts you off in traffic, signs are around you everyday we just dont pay him any attn, trust me i have hit so many times since letting go of a number i wanted to come out, peace jenkins and enjoy your new luck…

    • Doo

LOL!   I DEFINITELY understand that!  My number hasn’t come out in years also.

    • Anonymous

but hasn’t life also taught you that as soon as you give up on what you wanted (by changing numbers) that is when your numbers comes up?  Jwood, which him are you referring to paying attention to?  If you truly have “hit so many times”, you wouldn’t be on this forum posting stuff, you’d be out on an island enjoying the good life.  Whatever God you believe in gave you the intelligence to learn the skills to do it for yourself.  Don’t expect Him or Her to do it for you, as they have better things to do than randomly give you money.
