Public awaits news of their identity

Still reeling from their new multi-millionaire status, an Abingdon couple arrived at Lottery Headquarters to claim the first Powerball jackpot won in Maryland. The happy twosome, still contemplating whether to disclose their identities to the public, had the only winning ticket for the September 7th drawing.

“We’re thrilled to finally have a big Powerball jackpot win in Maryland,” said Communications Director Carole Everett. “It’s been quite a winning week here at the Maryland Lottery. We also welcomed a $200,000 Powerball winner, as well as a $1 million scratch-off winner.”

The lucky Powerball ticket was purchased in Harford County at Wine World, located at 406-A Constant Friendship Blvd. in Abingdon. Wine World owner Elizabeth LaBruto expressed her delight upon hearing the news, “I’m happy to hear that Maryland sold its first top-tier jackpot ticket, jazzed that it happened in this community and thrilled that Wine World was a part of it.  Good things happen to good people and Wine World customers are the best!” Wine World will receive a $25,000 commission for selling the ticket.

I’d make sure God came to pick up the cash in person, no one else that claims to work for God is worthy of your generosity.

Congratulations. Stay calm, get good advice from a reliable professional, and remain quiet about who you are and what you won. God bless you and all of your family

It’s ok to tell you won as long as you have immediate plans to relocate. With that kind of money, you can stay on the move.

  • dm

Iheard it was marriot that won what a scam.

I’m so happy for these folks!  Definately keep your id a secret.  I play when I have a couple of extra bucks and personally I dream of being able to help charities for the poor.  I think I would set up a foundation if it was a huge jackpot.  I would ask around for a trustworthy atty, but I would not give him access to the money.  I would also seek out a reputable financial advisor (and get second opinions) to help with the new tax bracket.  Take care of your immediate family but beware of every outlaw and inlaw who’ll be calling.  Purchase an alarm system for your home.

Congratulations.. be SMART…keep your identity hidden

Congrats to you…I would let people know who I am …No one is getting any money from me but who I want to have it…I see a big chunk of mine going to the Baltimore City Public School system minus the Governor, Mayor and all the other political people….I would hire my own contractors, electricians, plumbers etc….The kids need help and I see o no one wanting to help them…I would also donate money to drug education for the people…However I would not go thru any of the higher up to get it done….

This is a wonderful blessing for you. I agree with James,do help people who really need it. There are so many little soup kitchens and the rewards will be felt in your heart. The house of Ruth, for battered and abused women and children can always use a few more blankets and food but these are just a few things I would do if I were blessed with a windfall like what has come your way. I hope to hear about the good you have done on the news, but stay anonomise. God bless you.

  • Ch12800

Congratulation!!! I play every week and praying GOD would bless me soon. Because time is running out. and enjoy life.

  • James J

I am very happy for you both!

  • Brenda still playing!

What ever you do, don’t tell anyone! Also, don’t listen to anyone but a good financial advisor. If anyone finds out you will be bombarded with begging and pleading even from complete strangers like some of the ones on here.
