Chance on Racetrax Bonus Pays Off

Hanover resident Efrem “Gino” Odum has always had good luck playing his favorite Maryland Lottery games. In fact, just last year, he took home over $9,000 on a single Racetrax win. While happy, he always wondered how much more he could have won had he played the Racetrax Bonus option. He just found out by playing the option and winning $31,452!

The self-employed electrical engineer felt both anxious and excited about his win when he arrived at Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. The 52-year-old entrepreneur told Lottery officials he had a feeling that he should play the Racetrax Bonus option, so he did.

“It was like my sixth-sense was working overtime,” he said. “When I get a feeling that strong I go with it.”

Gino was overjoyed when he realized that his Trifecta Wheel ticket with the Bonus option was worth $31,452. His brother-in-law, who accompanied Gino to Lottery headquarters, told officials that Gino is always giving to others and deserves the win.

“He is the nicest guy you’re going to ever meet,” the brother-in-law said. “He would give you the shirt off of his back.”

The Anne Arundel County resident plans to spend some of his winnings on a previously planned trip with his wife to Atlantic City. The rest of the prize will go straight into savings for the couple.

He bought his winning ticket at the 7-Eleven on Dorsey Road in Hanover.
