Becomes 35th Marylander to Win Game’s Second Tier Prize This Year
Keith Smith Jr. of Severn set his mental alarm clock so not to miss last Tuesday’s late-night Mega Millions drawing. He had a good feeling about the drawing and wanted to know right away whether or not that would be his lucky night. His dedication was rewarded when his numbers began to appear, one by one.
“At first I thought I’d matched four numbers for a $150 win,” Keith admitted to officials. He then looked closer and realized there were in fact five matches on his ticket. That’s when the yelling started. “I woke up the whole house. Things didn’t calm down until 3:00 a.m.”
The $250,000 win couldn’t come at a better time for Keith and his family. Health problems have set themselves back considerably, so much so that they’ve been living with relatives. A new home is first on the agenda for the lucky couple.
Keith’s lucky Mega Millions ticket was purchased from the 7-11 convenience store at 500 Donaldson Road in Severn.
