Wins $50,000 top prize on Cash Blowout scratch-off

When Baltimore City resident, John King, arrived at Lottery headquarters he was still surprised that he was $50,000 richer. “I’ve won $2,500 playing Pick 4 a couple times, but never anything like this,” said the avid Lottery player.  Against his wife’s admonitions, the 70-year-old went out in the record-breaking heat to buy his Lottery tickets. “My wife told me not to go out,” said John. “She’ll be mad I did. But, when she sees the $50,000, she’ll smile.”

John discovered his win after scratching his Cash Blowout ticket in the store. “I asked if it was a winning ticket and the clerk said, ‘Yes, congratulations!’”  John immediately got in his truck and headed to Maryland Lottery Headquarters to claim his win.

“I always get the Cash Blowout ticket it’s one of my favorite scratch-offs,” said the happy winner. John hasn’t shared the news with anyone yet, not even his wife. “I don’t want her to have a wreck getting home from work.”

With three careers under his belt, as a bus driver, VA nurse, and owner of a tractor trailer business, the now retired great grandfather enjoys traveling in his RV. John intends to use his newfound fortune to pay bills and will put the remainder in the bank.  The winning ticket was purchased at One Stop Shop Liquors, located on 4905 Frankford Ave. in Baltimore City.

God rewards those who pursue and push forward in hard times. Gifts are for those
who do that. We are all trying to survive in the mist of this debt crisis. Win all the
    money we can..Mildred

Donald: Numbers drawn for each of the Lottery’s daily drawing games are arbitrary. Every time a ball is drawn, it is an independent and unique event, completely unaffected by what ball was drawn seconds, hours, days, or weeks earlier. Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance.

@Joseph….that maybe true as far as scratch-offs, but hardly are their millionare jackpot winners in the city….especially the poor neighbor hoods, where the lottery is mostly played…..they are not gonna give to much to us city folkes, lol….although we still hope & play…..Congrats John, hopefully I’ll b standing where u r standing soon! 🙂

  • it seem to me all the winning tickets are on the other side, mainly in Baltimore!I assume people on the Easternshore don’t buy them.If Maryland Lottery could send some this way than it would not look so discrimnatory.

joseph: Thanks for writing in. We get this comment a lot. People living in Baltimore believe all the winners are elsewhere and vice versa. Truth is the geographic locations of our winners are all random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Please take a look at our winners stories. There you’ll see that we have winners from all over the State.

Congratulations Mr. John. I play alot of scratch-offs and the highest I have seen in awhile is $10,000.00 not be me but by others. When it comes it’s meant for you! God Bless and enjoy. Hope to see more in Baltimore City, too few and lots of duds.

That’s just half of it why not just for the State of Md & surrounding counties like some other states do?
