Wins $50,000 on new scratch-off

After watching The Secret, a movie which promotes positive thinking and encourages viewers to write a monetary amount down on a piece of paper and slip it under their pillows in hopes of winning that amount, a Baltimore couple did just that. To their surprise, they won $50,000 playing one of the Lottery’s newest scratch-off tickets, Silver and Gold.

“At first I wasn’t going to buy it but I saw that it was a new ticket and a little voice in me was nudging me to get it,” said one of the happy winners. “I started scratching the ticket and to my shock, I won $10,000. Then I scratched a little more and I kept winning. Once I realized I’d won $50,000, I thought about that movie I saw.”

The lucky winners told Lottery officials that although they’ve won smaller amounts playing Lottery games, this was the first time they’ve won anything this big. “We are thrilled that we won. Now we can help our kids with some of their bills and save a few dollars as well.”    Silver and Gold is one of the Lottery’s newest scratch-off tickets and has a $1 million top-tier prize. This was the first $50,000 prize to be claimed. There are currently three $1 million and nine more $50,000 cash prizes available.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Erdman Citgo on Erdman Ave. in Baltimore.

THE SCRATCH OFF GAMES R RANDOM EVEN THE LOTTERY EMPLOYEES DONT KNOW WHAT PACKS HAVE THE WINNERS.ONCE THE TICKETS R PRINTED IN A HIGH SECURITY AREA NO ONE KNOWS WHERE THE WINNERS R DISTRIBUTED TO.NOT EVEN LOTTERY HEADQUARTERS.ONLY CERTAIN PEOPLE HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE AREAS AFTER THE TICKETS R DISTRIBUTED.ITS JUST THE LUCK OF THE DRAW.JUST LIKE A SLOT MACHINE IVE BOUGHT TICKETS ALL OVER AND STILL CANT WIN FIVE DOLLARS.ITS LIKE A NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK.GOODLUCK

Congratulations to the winners! Regarding the response to the Player’s Club scratchoff, it’s really too bad that it was pulled, especially since it still had some 1 million dollar prizes. We need more $20 scratchoffs-there aren’t many!

  • Cynthia

    Congratulations!!!

  • Freidab

I’m happy there are winnings in the Baltimore area. Gradulations to the couple, hopefuly I’ll be a huge winner soon!

  • Wally

Why you stop selling the PLAYER’S CLUB?

    • mdlottery

Wally: Player’s Club has been pulled from retailers in favor of some new $20 games like Black and Silver & Gold. We plan on relaunching the games in the future.

      • Cathy

Has the Player’s Club scratchoff been pulled from all retailers because its still showing on this website under the scratchoffs tab as if it’s still active.

        • mdlottery

Cathy: Yes, Player’s Club has been pulled from retailers in favor of other tickets in the $20 price point such as Black and Silver & Gold. We plan on re-issuing the game in the future, however, a date has yet to be determined.

  • Stella

    you go

  • Debra

I am happy to see a win so early in a new, however, I tend to agree that it appears majority of the winning tickets are from Baltimore retailer’s and this is not fair to other Maryland cities.

    • mdlottery

Debra: Thanks for writing in. We get this comment a lot. People living in Baltimore believe all the winners are elsewhere and vice versa. Truth is the geographic locations of our winners are all random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Please take a look at our winners stories. There you’ll see that we have winners from all over the State.

you gotta play to win and can’t mad or upset just because someone else does i’m just glad to hear about the winners and that’s why i keep playing the game and remerber it’s just game like any there are winners and losers

  • Ozzie Neff

There’s only more winners in big urban areas (Baltimore) because thyere are more players there. If you counted B’more winners vs non-B’more winners…it would average out. Probably the next highest group of winners is in the second highest populated county.

Lottery officials really do need to keep some numbers on how often the first and second tier winners are in B’more. I read the other comments of how often people complain the winners are in that area, the Lottery officials always deny the winnings are stacked in their favor. Now today, July 28th the 20 dollar game just started, on the 25th and a second tier winner is in B’more. We, the rest of us, need to quit scratching!

    • ginny

I Agree, it seems that most of the winners are in the B’more area. I live in Southern MD. very few winners here. Bought several scratch off’s with no winners.
