Baltimore Grandmother Finds $30,000 Lottery Scratch-off WinMonday, February 3rd, 2014
First time winning anything over $500
Surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a Baltimore City resident finally found the big scratch-off win she’s searched for time and again. After calming her tears, she shared with her curious family that she had just won $30,000 on a Maryland Lottery Rainbow Blackout Bingo scratch-off purchased earlier in the day.
“My great-grandkids kept telling me not to cry,” the woman told Lottery officials, laughing.
She’ll always remember B11, which was the last number she scratched off to verify her win. “I was scratching off the ticket and I started to get close to filling out the whole card,” she said. “Usually I miss it by one or two numbers, but this time I had all of the numbers.”
The win almost didn’t happen. The 71-year-old had played the $1 Wild Turkeys ticket for weeks without too much luck. “I saw this bingo ticket and thought to myself that I would give it a try,” the happy winner said.
She’s certainly happy she did. “I won $500 once. I came close to winning the jackpot a long time ago. This is the most I’ve ever won in my life,” she said.
The lucky lady plans to use the winnings for home repairs. She bought the winning $2 scratch-off at Bunny’s Liquors located at 2217 North Fulton Ave. in Baltimore City. There are 12 remaining $30,000 top prizes remaining on the Rainbow Blackout Bingo ticket.
