Baltimore Great-Grandmother Turns Lottery Luck into Nest Egg

Wins $10,000 Playing 10x Cash

10x CashA Baltimore woman who randomly selected several Maryland Lottery scratch-offs with a friend also picked up enough Lottery luck to turn a 10x Cash scratch-off into an unexpected nest egg.

The great-grandmother bought her instant tickets at the 7 Star Convenience Store located at 3201 W. North Avenue in Baltimore City. She took the tickets home to scratch and, to her surprise, saw the 10x Cash ticket was a winner! The lucky player asked her friend to check the ticket, too. Her friend saw that the $1,000 win was actually $10,000 because of the $10 ticket’s multiplier of 10.

“I was completely in shock,” said the 78-year-old winner. “I just could not believe it.”

A regular Lottery scratch-off player, she said this is her first big win.

The Westinghouse Northrop Grumman Corp. retiree has no definite plans for her winnings other than splurging on a nice meal with her friend before heading home from Lottery headquarters. “I’ll just put it away until I need it,” she said.
