Wins $24,000 top prize on 24 Karat Cash Maryland Lottery scratch-off

24 Karat CashThe horses may not have come in for an avid Racetrax player today, but he still made it to the finish line with a $24,000 top prize on a 24 Karat Cash scratch-off ticket.

The 66-year-old was playing Racetrax at Omar’s Fuel Mart in Catonsville. After not having much success, he was going to call it a day and head home when something caught his eye.

“I saw an ad on the Racetrax monitor for scratch-offs and decided to grab a few before I left,” he said. “I bought four $3 tickets. It was pure luck.”

After scratching the ticket and realizing he won the $24,000 top prize, the winner immediately came to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. When asked where he was going next, he told Lottery officials that he was heading straight to the bank.

Although he hasn’t told anyone about his win, the Baltimore retiree has big plans. “I’ve always wanted to go on a cruise to Alaska, and now I can.” In addition to the vacation, he will also surprise his daughter and granddaughter with a gift.

Omar’s Fuel Mart is located at 1022 Ingleside Ave. in Catonsville. For selling a winning top-prize 24 Karat Cash scratch-off, the store will receive a $240 bonus.
