Couple Sets Sail On First Vacation in 25 Years, Thanks to Cruise For CashTuesday, March 29th, 2011
After twenty-five years of marriage, three children and five grand kids, will finally set sail on their dream vacation…on their only vacation, in fact. The happy twosome will enjoy a seven-night cruise vacation for two as a result of Kimberly’s purchase of the Cruise for Cash scratch-off.
“It was about two weeks ago. I stopped to get gas and bought one ticket,” said Kimberly, who is a big fan of Maryland Lottery scratch-offs. The 48-year-old postal worker scratched the ticket while at the pump and couldn’t contain her excitement when she realized that she had won. “I just started saying, ‘Oh, my God, oh my God,’” said Kimberly. “I told the girl at the next pump ‘I just won a cruise.’”
Kimberly quickly phoned her husband, Michael, to share the good news. His initial response was that they couldn’t afford to go. But, once Kimberly told him about receiving $1,000 in ship credit and $500 in spending money, he shared her enthusiasm. Tearing up, Michael said, “We’ve been married for 25 years and I’ve never been able to take her anywhere. This will be like a honeymoon.
The Whites plan to take their cruise in July. When asked what the first thing he intended to do upon boarding the ship, Michael responded, “I’m going to buy some nice champagne.”
Kimberly, looked at him, puzzled and declared, “But, we don’t drink.” “We’re gonna bathe in it,” Michael said with a laugh. The winning ticket was purchased at 7-11, located at 6971 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Baltimore.
Partnering with Royal Caribbean International, the Maryland Lottery launched Cruise for Cash on January 10, 2011.
