Wins cruise to Caribbean after playing scratch-off

Troy Barker, an IT professional from Germantown, came into Lottery Headquarters earlier this afternoon to claim the 7-day Royal Caribbean cruise vacation he won on the Cruise for Cash scratch-off.  Barker, an avid traveler, stopped at a local 7-11 on his way to meet a friend when the game caught his eye. “My wife and I enjoy cruises so much,” he said. “I just had to give it a try.”

Troy and his wife of 25 years have taken more than 15 cruises throughout their marriage and found out about the win when preparing for their most recent vacation. The winning ticket was put away for safekeeping, and the Barkers began excitedly planning their next excursion.  Troy just now decided to finally take the winning ticket out of his safe and claim the prize.

Partnering with Royal Caribbean International, the Lottery launched Cruise for Cash in January. The $5 scratch-off is the first of its kind for the Maryland Lottery and features seven $50,000 instant top prizes and 31 instant seven-night cruise vacations for two, departing from Florida with a premium ocean view balcony stateroom; deluxe premium hotel accommodations for two for the night prior to cruise departure, $1,000 onboard credit and $500 spending money.
