Elkton Man Makes Crab Run, Walks Away With $50K Bonus Match 5 Prize

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

“Excited, surprised and shocked,” was how the Bonus Match 5 player described his emotions upon discovering his largest Lottery win to date.  An avid Lottery fan, the retired military man, plays Pick 3, Pick 4, Multi-Match, Powerball, Mega Millions, and of course, Bonus Match 5 – although only recently.  “I’ve only been playing Bonus Match 5 for less than a month,” said the winner.  “I won $400 my first time playing,” he added.

Thursday evening, while he was waiting for his steamed crabs, he decided to go to the nearby liquor store to get Lottery tickets. With steamed crabs and Lottery tickets in hand he headed home.  Later that evening, following his typical routine, he went online to check his tickets.

“I always go to mdlottery.com to check them,” the 64-year-old said.  To his surprise he had all five numbers. “I  double checked and triple checked the numbers. I must have looked at that ticket about 20 times,” the Cecil County resident said.   He immediately signed the winning ticket and put it in his wallet for safekeeping until he arrived at Lottery Headquarters this morning.

A contractor for more than 19 years, the winner hasn’t told anyone about his $50,000 win and has no plans to any time soon.  As for what to do with his winnings, “Invest,” he said. “I’ll do a lot of investing and put some in my retirement fund.” The winning $50,000 Bonus Match 5 ticket was purchased at State Line Liquors, located at 1610 Elkton Rd. in Elkton.
