Wins $50,000 Top Prize on Cruise for Cash Scratch-Off

Zheng Hai Zheng - Cruise for Cash Zheng Hai Zheng buys scratch-off tickets about twice a year. That sporadic play paid off for the restaurant owner a couple of weeks ago when he bought two Cruise for Cash scratch-off tickets. “I was getting gas and had $10 in loose change in my pocket,” said Zheng. “I decided to buy two tickets.” Zheng scratched his Cruise for Cash purchases right there at the pump and revealed his win on the last number.  His reaction – “I better get in the car.”  The 26-year-old father-of-two immediately headed home to share his news with his family. “They were pretty excited,” said Zheng. “They thought I was joking.”

Zheng, who hails from China, has been in the United States since 1994 and owns Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet in Glen Burnie. The happy winner intends to use his windfall to buy real estate, perhaps some type of rental property.  While Zheng has no plans to increase his Lottery play, his big win spurred his wife and sister to try their luck. The result? His sister scratched her way to $500 on an instant ticket the day after her brother’s big win. Zheng purchased his winning Cruise for Cash scratch-off at Brooklyn BP, located at 101 Patapsco Ave. in Baltimore.

The $5 Cruise for Cash scratch-off, which partners the Maryland Lottery with Royal Caribbean ® International, launched on January 10, 201l. The first ticket of its kind for the Maryland Lottery, the ticket features seven $50,000 instant top prizes, as well as 31 instant seven-night cruise vacations for two departing from Florida with a premium ocean view balcony stateroom; first class round-trip airfare- for-two to Florida; deluxe premium hotel accommodations for two for the night prior to cruise departure, $1,000 onboard credit and $500 spending money.

Cruise for Cash also features a second-chance contest with six more chances to win a nine-night cruise vacation for two, departing from the Port of Baltimore. Second-chance cruise prizes include a premium ocean view balcony stateroom on any one of Royal Caribbean’s cruise ships departing from the Port of Baltimore and a $1,000 onboard credit. Players enter the second-chance contest by mailing in a non-winning Cruise for Cash scratch-off to the address on the back of the ticket or by going online at mdlottery.com/cruise. On Sunday I brought a scratch off at a corner Cut-Rite and I scratched off $500.00. I feel if it’s for you it’s for you.

Baltimore in the Capital of big winning scratch off tikets that I’v ever seen in my 20years of playing Maryland lottery. WHY IS THAT?????????

    • mdlottery

Reggie: Thanks for writing in. We get this comment a lot. People living in Baltimore believe all the winners are elsewhere and vice versa. Truth is the geographic locations of our winners are all random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Please take a look at our winners stories. There you’ll see that we have winners from all over the State.

You know It’s funny that we in Baltimore say the same thing about the people who live in the surrounding counties when it comes to big wins. Get real!

Back in Oct of 2010,I had purchased a multi match ticket for $10.00, and never really paid attention to it after that, About 5 months after that,my wife had seen it sitting around, and asked “have you checked this” and I said no, I then went to the local retailer and checked it, and the machine said “previously paid” Now I know that I had not gotten paid for this ticket,BECAUSE it was still IN MY POSSESSION,WHEN YOU WIN,THE RETAILER,TAKES THE TICKET FROM YOU,AND STAPLES IT TO ANOTHER TICKET AND THEN GIVES YOU YOUR CASH. I proceeded to take it to the lotto headquarters, where I was told that I had already been paid in other tickets, for this winning $42.00 ticket, which I know that was not the case,My Mother-in-law god rest her soul, had always said”it is RIGGED”,with the experience that had happened to me, I have to say She was right.. Sincerely FISHY

Dear Fishy, Dont feel bad, I won a $900 Keno with a Doubler and when I went to cash was told ticket had been intercepted for something I owed the State which the lottery would not tell me who. Furthermore, I technicallly only won $450 but because of Doubler made mine $900 so you would think I should cash without filing a claim form. Yea right. Lottery will take your winnings if you owe the state so beware all players! You never know IT COULD BE YOU!!!!!

I agree with Steve and learn. I am eager to hear that someone won big were I play my numbers in East Montgomery County. Since I think that there is something going on in Baltimore, I am planing to drive there to buy some tickets in advance (26 drawings at a time.
