Not a scratch off question but our faimly pools money (about 10 of us) for MEga millions tickets and I was told that if we won (BIG IF) that one person has to claim the money that it cannot be split bewteen the 10 of us..is this true?

    • mdlottery

J Robert: In order for you to split the jackpot (if you win) each member of their group has to claim. If one person in your group claims, then the check will be in their name alone.

  • I think is really sad that the Maryland lottery doesn’t post where each Top Prize is won.. I know we had a $50,000 Cruize ticket won on Smallwood Pky in Waldorf MD in Feb/11 but no information on the winner was posted.. I do know some people don’t want to let the world know they won, but damn man how about the locations.. Giant Food on Crain Hwy. Waldorf MD had a $250,000 winner a few years back, again only from word of mouth a lottery player found out.. Please post store locations/City were big tickets are sold.. It’s only fair. We are the players and odds are that big tickets won’t be at shame location more than a few times.. UNHAPPY WITH MD LOTTERY. 🙁

    • mdlottery

Bigg Waldorf MD: Typically, if there is a big winner, we always include where the winner was sold in our winners’ story. Also, many retailers post if winning tickets were purchased at their store.

Speaking specifically to the Cruise for Cash winner, that story was published here.

  • Daneene

I was wondering where can I buy Set for Life 2 tickets in MD close to 21701. The game is about to end but the percentage left is high and no stores or machines have any of those cards.

    • mdlottery

Daneene: Distribution of Set for Life 2 tickets has been complete and the game is in final claim status. We have no way of knowing at this point where this game is still available. Sorry.

  • Johnnie Dallas

Why on people that already have money win do u ever put win tickets in the poor locations I just need one chance to hit big to open my own warehouse to give all my friend that need a job but have felonys but are hard workers I pray that I can win one day to help others in need

    • mdlottery

Johnnie Dallas: The geographic locations of our winners are random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Please take at our winners stories. There you’ll see that we have winners from all over the State.

  • pstewart

i feel that if you win a $10,000 scatch off ticket why can’t you pay taxes on that amount at the end of year. and not when you have to cash in the ticket. it there a way to pay the taxes on scatch off tickets at the end of year with the rest of the yearly taxes.

    • mdlottery

pstewart: If a player wins more than $5,000 playing the Lottery, income tax will automatically be withheld, just as if it was from your paycheck. According to Maryland law, a prize winnings of more that $5,000 are subject to withholdings for both federal and state income tax purposes. You must file Form 502D, Declaration of Estimated Tax, and pay the tax due within 60 days if your winnings are between $500 and $5,000. Failure to pay the tax or report the income could result in penalty and interest charges.

Alright, I’m either completely BLIND or the 2nd chance verification code on the Cruise for Cash ticket is NOT where the example ticket shows (on the front, under the scratch off area)

Would someone care to explain why I’m being asked to enter a verification code which does not exist on any of my 5 tickets?

    • mdlottery

Nancy: Sorry for the confusion. The validation code can exist at the bottom as shown or towards the top near the cruise ship on the ticket.

  • Arnetta R. Wingfield

I love playing the scratch offs, I win small amounts, It just doesn’t seem to be any big money in the Suitland, Clinton, Temple Hills, and Oxon Hill Maryland areas.

I still be trying my luck!
