Wins $40,000 Playing Keno
On his way home from work on Friday, a maintenance coordinator for a Baltimore County retirement community stopped to visit with friends who were playing Keno at a favorite Lottery spot. As afternoon turned to evening, he decided to play one more game before heading home. That last game proved memorable as his numbers — family ages and birthdays — appeared, one after another. A $40,000 Keno win is a great way to start a weekend!
“I saw a few of my numbers pop up and started to celebrate,” the Catonsville resident told Lottery officials. “I was about to point it out to my friends when I noticed a few more pop up.” Nine of his numbers appeared. Factoring in the Bonus option he’d chosen, the game gave him a $40,000 win. “I almost passed out. I’ve won before, but nothing like this. Not even close.”
The 58-year-old husband and father left his friends mid-celebration to share his good news with his wife. Until he showed her the ticket, though, she didn’t believe him. “I’m known as a bit of a prankster,” he said, “so nobody believed me. Not my mother, my brother or my sister.”
His family will definitely benefit from the man’s lottery luck. He, his wife and their daughter plan to share their winnings with the family, tackle a home improvement project or two and maybe take a cruise. Keno luck found him at the Edmondson Sunoco at 6122 Edmondson Avenue in Baltimore.
