Donna McCarthy - Twisted Bingo_webDonna and Tom McCarthy of Ellicott City are celebrating her latest $10,000 Lottery win on a Twisted Bingo scratch-off.

Scratches her way to a $10,000 prize playing Twisted Bingo ticket

Co-workers at Donna McCarthy’s office think she is one lucky lady when it comes to playing Maryland Lottery games. In fact, her colleagues at Professional Vision Eye Care have made Donna the official ticket buyer for their office pool purchases of Mega Millions and Powerball tickets.

Their faith in her ability to pick lucky tickets is based on her proven track record as a Lottery winner. Just the other day, the Ellicott City woman scratched her way to a $10,000 Lottery prize on a Twisted Bingo scratch-off. She purchased the instant ticket during her visit to a Mars store in Ellicott City to buy the office pool Lottery tickets. Lady Luck strikes again!

The Howard County resident visited the lucky retailer located at 9150 Baltimore National Pike. “I waited until I was back in the car to scratch,” said the 55-year-old mother of three. “First, I thought I had won $500. But, then, when I went back in the store to scan it, it (ticket scanner) told me to bring it here. I was shocked when I realized it was $10,000!”

Tom McCarthy, the lucky winner’s husband of 31 years, told Lottery officials that his wife is always winning cash prizes on Lottery games. He said she recently won a Lottery 2013 Ravens Game Day package with on-field access, $300 playing Keno, $500 on another scratch-off and much, much more.

“I told her not to stop playing because she supplements our income now,” he said, with a smile. “No one was really all that surprised at Donna’s recent win except for Donna.”

The first thing she wants to do with her windfall, Donna said, is visit Disney World with her husband. “We’ve been there before but that was when the kids were younger,” she said. “Now we can go there on an adult trip.”

The new $10 Twisted Bingo ticket just reached Maryland stores on May 27. All four top-tier winning tickets carrying a $150,000 prize are available for discovery at Lottery retailers along with nearly a dozen $10,000 second-tier winning tickets. Prizes range from $10 to $150,000.

I’d like to see winners from the Eastern Shore. Why is it all the winners are across the bridge?

      Hi Dina-
Thanks for writing in. We get this comment a lot. People living in Baltimore believe all the winners are elsewhere and vice versa. The geographic locations of our winners are all random and there is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Please take a look at our winners stories. There you’ll see that we have winners from all over the State.
