So..,,,From 1 in 175 million to 1 in 250 + million…..What do they think we are stupid? I guess so lol

  • CA

We should have a yearly lottery like in Spain. $3 billion dollars split up helps a lot of people.
American lottery is a tax on the people. It’s double dipping when you win money and get taxed again. Take the cash option and lose 40%. Less if you live in a state with no income tax.

  • Outlans

Maryland lottery wins again. Oh thats right the house allways WIN’s

  • Sasha Washington

    Very disappointing news!

  • Sasha Washington

Total ripoff. I guess the powers to be at the MD lottery think we’re stupid.

  • Michael P. Martinez

Can you please tell us what logic you used to come up with these game changes that benefits the players?

  • Chris Hampton

Maybe play when the pot is $300 million – rip off otherwise!

  • rmalozi0113

I wish the lottery of any state would make it so that if the jackpot is for example, 5 million. Then have 20- $250K winners instead of one person winning more money then they can ever use. Spread the Jackpot around more.

    • rjack

      Totally agree!

    • Debbie Mikolajczyk

I have felt this way. Once it gets to be HUGE, there should be several drawings to spread the money around.

  • crustyone

How much money from ticket sales go to the O.O.G. for parties and “official” travel?

  • crustyone

It was wise to keep the cash option. A 26 year annuity was bad enough but 30 really stinks. Maybe it could be like the no cost to play PCH in which the winner designates an heir for the winning to continue.

  • crustyone

I never purchased “Bay tags” for the same reason.

  • crustyone

It will be a pain the the posterior and a waste of fuel to make individual trips for single tickets.

  • Debbie Mikolajczyk

Wow my chances of hitting a Mega Millions Jackpot went up 83.2 million or the 2nd Tier up 14.6 million. The odds are NOT in MY favor at all. I guess I might buy a ticket when the jackpot is over $250 million (the odds of me doing that now are 1 in NEVER) – A former $20 week Mega Millions player.

    • crustyone

Mega Millions tickets will probably be available worldwide even in countries unfriendly to the United States with income taxes only due by U.S. winners.

    • crustyone

That’s the way I purchased (and may purchase future) Powerball tickets.

  • James Coe

Just get a Maryland only based lottery game.I think you would make more money with a in state only millions game.

  • Conservitus

Amazing. You could not possibly have designed a less attractive game. Your new value proposition is we did not change the bet, but we lowered your odds of winning and oh by the way we are further inflating the jackpot by extending the annuity period so we can advertise even larger unreal jackpots. There is a reason in Italy they call lottery tickets, the “Idiot Tax”. Great job, keep up the good work.
