Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $100 Million Mark

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Mega MillionsIf the past is any indication of what’s to come, Mega Millions craziness is about to begin.  With last night’s drawing producing no top-tier winner and the jackpot climbing to $100 million for this Friday night, Lottery officials are preparing for the explosion of interest that the phrase “$100 million” almost always brings.

“$100 million is an attention-getter,” explained Lottery Communications Director Carole Everett.  “When jackpots reach this level our agents report a significant increase in sales.”

While the larger jackpot is appealing, Everett is quick to remind Mega Millions players that there are many other substantial prizes waiting to be won. In fact, so far this year, Maryland has had 17 second-tier $250,000 winners and 92 third-tier $10,000 winners.

The Mega Millions drawing can be seen on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV, Channel 11.

I see Delaware has added something called a Megaplier to their Megamillion tickets. Is MD going to do this?

Dorothy: We are working on adding this feature. However, at this time we do not have any details to share. Once they are available we’ll definitely let players know ASAP.
