Mega Millions Jackpot Rolls to $550 Million

Monday, December 16th, 2013

Cash option for Tuesday jackpot is $295.3 million

The Mega Millions jackpot has rolled to $550 million, reaching the second highest level in Mega Millions history and becoming the fourth largest jackpot in U.S. history.

No one hit the $425 million jackpot on Friday the 13th. The jackpot has rolled 21 times since the Oct. 4 drawing and will offer a cash option of 295.3 million for the Tuesday, Dec. 17 drawing. Players in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland won the largest Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million on March 30, 2012.

Two Mega Millions jackpot wins took place in Maryland this year. An Anne Arundel County man stepped forward in October to claim a $189 million jackpot. In February, a Mt. Airy couple won $26 million playing Mega Millions. In 2013, Maryland has welcomed 16 second-tier winners, including two with Megaplier for $1 million. The multistate game is sold in 45 states and jurisdictions.

Sales of the $1 tickets will continue until 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. Players can increase their winnings by investing a second $1 to add Megaplier to their ticket to multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. Also, tickets with Megaplier will print with a Ravens logo and qualify for a second-chance contest. Enter those non-winning tickets into drawings for a chance to win great prizes like Ravens season tickets for 20 years. See for details.

To get an alert on your phone with the winning numbers, download the MD Lottery app in the Apple and Android app stores. Mega Millions drawings are televised on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV 11. Players can also see the drawing and winning numbers posted at
