Director’s Message
May 2008
It’s
our 35th Anniversary here at the Maryland Lottery. On May 15,
1973, our first ticket, Twin Win, went on sale and Marylanders
greeted the game with enthusiasm. Now, more than three decades later, the
Lottery is still going strong, generating lots of fun and excitement for
players while providing substantial revenue for our great State. In fact,
since its debut, sales have totaled more than $28.6 billion, returning more
than $10.5 billion to Maryland, supporting essential services and programs
in our communities.
To
herald this auspicious occasion, the Lottery is holding several parties
across Maryland. Come out and disco to music of the 70’s, take part in our
dance contests and even take home great Lottery prizes and anniversary
memorabilia like tie-dye t-shirts. (Click here to view party dates, times
and locations.)
In
other Lottery news, our Dubble Bubble Doubler ticket has broken sales
records. In one month alone, the ticket made a name for itself as the
best-selling $2 scratch-off in Maryland Lottery history.
As
always, we’ve been congratulating lots of happy winners here at Lottery
headquarters. Along with many big scratch-off winners, Multi-Match
and Bonus Match 5 winners, the Mega Millions game has produced
70 third-tier $10,000 prizes and 12 second-tier $250,000 prizes in Maryland
since January of this year. The next mega winner could be you!
I hope
you enjoy the spring weather and be sure to watch for the Lottery at our May
anniversary celebrations as well as terrific events…all spring and summer
long.
Sincerely,
Buddy
