Wins $50,000 Playing Maryland Lottery’s Monopoly Scratch-off Game
After spending the workday planning meals for residents of a nursing home, C. Evans of Baltimore likes to pick up a few Maryland Lottery scratch-offs on the way home. She did just that recently and selected a Monopoly scratch-off for part of her evening’s entertainment.
“I really like the Monopoly ticket, it’s been good to me in the past,” said the 49-year-old mother of three. She became confused, however, when she first scratched off what turned out to be a $50,000 winning ticket.
“I know the game pretty well,” she said. “Looking at the ticket, it appeared that I had won $50,000. I knew that couldn’t be right!”
The lucky winner walked from room to room in her home, studying the $5 Monopoly ticket and reading the game rules. “I eventually realized that it was real, that I had actually won $50,000.”
Lottery luck found our winner at the Bmore Tobacco Store at 1005 East Lombard Street in Baltimore. She plans to pay several bills, share her prize with family members and buy a new car with her Monopoly winnings.
The game launched Jan. 27 and has four $50,000 top-prize winning tickets still in stores. In addition to winning up to $50,000 instantly, players can enter their non-winning Monopoly tickets through My Lottery Rewards into second-chance drawings for $50,000. They can also select their favorite Monopoly game token on the Maryland Lottery’s Facebook page to enter a drawing to win $300 in new Monopoly scratch-offs. Visit mdlottery.com/monopoly for details.
