Westminster Woman Wins $5,000 at Keno Party

Donna Schaefer, from Westminster, drove an hour and a half in rush hour traffic and stood in line for half an hour so that she could buy Keno tickets to enter the Keno Patrol $5,000 drawing. But the wait was well worth it. Donna was randomly selected Thursday night as the $5,000 Keno Patrol winner.

For the past six weeks, the Maryland Lottery and FOX 45 have been holding Keno Patrol parties at secret locations throughout the State. Every Thursday, Keno players partied Maryland Lottery-style, enjoying food, music, prizes and of course Keno. Each week, players entered their non-winning Keno tickets for the chance to win $5,000

“I didn’t realize how intense it would be,” said Donna. The winner went to the party in Mount Airy a few weeks ago with some friends from work. She and her friends enjoyed figuring out the clues to the Patrol’s secret location given on FOX 45. When none of her friends could go with her to last week’s party at Padonia Station, Donna decided to go by herself. This wasn’t the only excitement the 48-year-old has this month. A few weeks ago, her first grandchild was born

Previous winners from the six-week promotion include David Seldin from Middle River, who won at Freddies in Bel Air; Jacqueline Spruell from Owings Mills, who won at Jilly’s in Ellicott City; Steve Gallagher from New Market, who won at Memories Charcoal House in Mt. Airy; Jacquallace Fields from Glen Burnie, who won at Bill Batemans in Glen Burnie; and David Jakubowski from Dundalk, who won at Poncabird Pub in Baltimore.
