Powerball Jackpot Climbing Again (10/26)Monday, October 24th, 2011
$174 Million for Wednesday’s Drawing
With no big winner over the weekend, the Powerball jackpot continues its climb toward the $200 million mark for the third time this year. Wednesday’s $174 million jackpot carries a cash option of $105 million. The jackpot has been on the rise since the first week of September when a Powerball ticket good for $108.8 million was claimed by a Harford County couple.
“This kind of jackpot certainly ratchets up the excitement,” said Lottery Communications Director Carole Everett. “And with the memory of last month’s jackpot win still fresh in peoples’ minds, the interest is even greater.” Ms. Everett reported that along with last month’s jackpot win, Powerball has delivered $200,000 second-tier wins to eleven Maryland players so far this year. One of those $200,000 prizes, won on May 28th in Clinton, remains unclaimed.
Powerball tickets cost $1 and are available at over 4,200 Maryland Lottery retailers across the state. For an extra dollar per play players may opt for the Power Play feature, giving them the chance to multiply their non-jackpot winnings.
The Powerball drawing can be seen on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV, Channel 11.
