Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $200 Million for Saturday’s Drawing (2/4)Thursday, February 2nd, 2012
Lottery players are lining up and dreaming big. There was no Powerball jackpot winner last night, making Saturday’s drawing worth $200 million, the biggest jackpot currently available in the nation. The $200 million jackpot has a cash option of $125.1 million. The jackpot has been growing ever since producing Maryland’s second Powerball jackpot winner on Christmas Eve. That $128 million winning ticket was sold in Cecil County.
Due to recent changes to the game, Powerball jackpots now start at $40 million. These changes also include an improvement in the overall odds of winning and the doubling of the ways in which players can become millionaires. Powerball tickets cost $2 and are available at over 4,200 Maryland Lottery retailers across the state. For an extra dollar per play players may opt for the Power Play feature, giving them the chance to increase their non-jackpot winnings.
The Powerball drawing can be seen on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV, Channel 11. The drawings are later rebroadcast on Maryland Public Television.
