Jackpot cash option for Wednesday drawing reaches $124.8 million

Good news, Maryland! Powerball is on a roll again. The jackpot climbed to $216 million with a cash option of $124.8 million for the upcoming drawing on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The Saturday drawing failed to produce a jackpot winner, allowing Powerball to continue a roll that started on Sept. 21.

Maryland has enjoyed two in-state jackpot winners since Powerball began in the state in 2010. On Christmas Eve 2011, a Pennsylvania couple purchased a $128.8 million winning ticket from Wesley’s in Elkton. In September of the same year, an Abingdon couple bought a $108.8 winning ticket at Wine World in Abingdon. The largest ever Powerball jackpot, $590.5 million, was claimed by a Florida woman last June.

The most recent multi-state jackpot win in Maryland took place on Oct. 1, when an Anne Arundel County man won $189 million playing Mega Millions. So far this year, the state has seen nine $1 million second-tier Powerball winners. Watch Powerball drawings on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV, Channel 11. The multi-state game is sold in 45 states and jurisdictions.
