Powerball Jackpot Soars to $203 Million for Saturday’s Drawing (10/29)

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

There was no top prize winner in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, making the jackpot for Saturday $203 million. The multi-state game, which produced its first Maryland jackpot winner on September 7, 2011, has been rising ever since being won by a Harford County couple. That winning ticket was purchased at Wine World in Abingdon.

“The possibility of having back-to-back jackpot winners in Maryland is very exciting,” said Maryland Lottery Communications Director Carole Everett. In addition to the jackpot wins, Maryland has also had 11 second-tier $200,000 Powerball winners in 2011. “While jackpot wins are certainly big news, there are other large prizes to be won,” added Ms. Everett.  In fact, there is still one $200,000 prize which hasn’t been claimed.” The unclaimed winning Powerball ticket was sold on May 28, 2011 at 7-11 in Clinton.

Powerball jackpots start at $20 million. Powerball tickets cost $1 and are available at over 4,200 Maryland Lottery retailers across the state. For an extra dollar per play players may opt for the Power Play feature, giving them the chance to multiply their non-jackpot winnings.

The Powerball drawing can be seen on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV, Channel 11.
