Mega Millions Second-Tier Winner Claims $250,000 Prize
Tonight’s Jackpot is $330 Million

(Baltimore) – A Gaithersburg man was only one number away from winning the second largest Mega Millions jackpot in history. He wasn’t disappointed however, as he took home the game’s next best amount, the $250,000 second-tier prize.

The lucky man normally plays Mega Millions when the game has a huge jackpot. He selected the numbers as a “quick pick” because he doesn’t play special numbers. Although he purchased his ticket on August 14, he didn’t find out that he won until just a few days ago. “I checked the machine and it said, ‘Cash at the Lottery.’”

He plans to use his winnings to pay for college for his three young children. The winning ticket was purchased at the White Marsh BP gas station, located at 5250 Campbell Boulevard in Baltimore County. Tonight’s drawing has an annuity value of $330 million with a cash option of $194.4 million.
