A Short Wait Proves To Be A Great
“Deal” For Shady Side Woman
New Deal Or No Deal Scratch-Off
Pays First Top-Tier Prize Of $30,000
(Baltimore) – A Shady Side woman stopped by Captain Kidd’s in Deale
to meet a friend Thursday night. The friend was a few minutes late
and, consequently, the woman is now more than a few thousand dollars
richer.
“I had a little time to kill and was
looking to entertain myself,” said the 75-year-young woman, who
chose the Deal or No Deal scratch-off because it was new. “I
took the ticket to my car and looked at it. I couldn’t believe my
eyes.” She went back in the store where the clerk checked the ticket
and told her that she had won $30,000. “Everyone in the store
started cheering,” she said.
When she phoned her husband to tell
him the good news, he insisted she was joking. “I have a reputation
for doing that to him,” said the soft-spoken winner. The Shady Side
resident finds playing the Lottery fun and buys scratch-offs nearly
every day. She has won $100 amounts on more than one occasion, but
this is her first big jackpot.
The couple, who has been married for
54 years, intends to put their winnings in the bank and take their
daughter and granddaughter out to dinner.
The winning ticket was purchased at
Captain Kidd’s, located at 5823 Deale-Churchton Rd. in Deale.
