Middle River Woman Takes Home Scratch-Off Top Prize

(Baltimore) – A Baltimore County woman says luck was on her side as her one-year wedding anniversary approaches.  The lucky winner plays Bingo and Cash Word scratch–offs every week.  After she scratched the ticket, she had her granddaughter check to make sure it was a winner.  Next, she immediately woke her husband. “He almost fell out of bed,” she exclaimed. 

The happy couple came into Lottery headquarters on Monday morning to claim the ticket. “She couldn’t sleep last night,” said her husband. The win came at a good time.  Her husband was recently laid off from his job and she had to retire early due to medical reasons.

The retired nurse said they haven’t told their children yet.  Between the two of them, they have six children and one granddaughter. The couple, who already had plans to buy a new house, will use the winnings to get new windows in their current home and pay bills.  The winning ticket was purchased at Cigarette Depot, located at 1320 Eastern Boulevard in Baltimore.
