Glen Burnie Man Claims Gem of a Prize Playing Jewels of the Nile
New Scratch-Off Pays First $100,000 Top Prize

(Baltimore) – Accompanied by his cousin and smiling from ear to ear, Chen En Zhang arrived at Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim his $100,000 prize. The native of mainland China said that he often plays scratch-offs, buying them every two or three days. On Sunday evening, he purchased five scratch-off tickets, one of which was the new Jewels of the Nile.

He waited until he got home before playing. The $100,000 winner was the first ticket he scratched. “I saw $10,000, ten times,” said Zhang.  “I saw that and I was very happy.” He quickly told his wife and parents that he was a winner.  “They were all screaming,” added his cousin.

Zhang, who is 29-years old, has lived in the United States for twelve years and works as a chef at a Chinese restaurant. A bit uncertain about how he will spend his money, Zhang said that he may buy a new car or take a vacation.

The winning ticket was purchased at Xpress Mart, located at 7760 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. in Glen Burnie.
