Cockeysville Student Wins $50,000 Playing Bonus Match 5

(Baltimore) – The recipe for success for one Cockeysville man has always been hard work. But it was a diversion from all that hard work that really paid-off this week. The 18-year-old won a $50,000 top-prize playing Bonus Match 5.

The Biology student attends Essex Community College in preparation for medical school.  Playing Bonus Match 5 was a good distraction while studying for his chemistry mid-term.  “I’m at school from 3 pm to 9 pm, most days,” he said. When he’s not studying, he is working as a detailer for a Baltimore-area limousine service. “I just like to play for a bit of fun.”

He watched the drawing live, and was amazed when the numbers began to come out in sequence. “When I saw them matching my ticket, I thought, this can’t be happening,” he said. When the drawing concluded he pulled up the winning numbers online to confirm. When his mother saw the numbers she screamed so loud she woke the house.

The hard-working student may use his winnings to purchase a car, but is more concerned with school. “I’m in my freshman year and have eight to twelve years still ahead of me.” He intends to use some of his prize to continue his education at University of Maryland, College Park. The winning ticket was purchased at Team Spirits in Cockeysville.
