Good Friday Turns into a Great Day for Essex Woman
Wins $10,000 Congratulations! Scratch-off Top Prize

(Baltimore) – On Friday evening, Denise Carey of Essex was relaxing at home in her pajamas. She was capping off the day, by sitting at her kitchen table and playing her recently purchased scratch-off tickets. When Denise scratched her Congratulations! ticket, she realized she’d won $10,000 and began to scream. Her husband, David, immediately ran in to see what was going on.  “I didn’t know what to think,” he said.  “I thought she saw a mouse.”

Denise, who has been an Anne Arundel County DLLR employee for 13 years, and David, a truck driver, went back to Middlesex Liquors to confirm that they had a winning ticket.  She then shared the news of her win with her mother, her daughter and a cousin. “When my mom heard I won, she was so excited, she went and bought some for herself,” said Denise. 

The lucky couple plans to go shopping at Walmart, buy a computer, and fix up their house.  Denise admits, “We’re just a practical couple.”  The winning ticket was purchased at Middlesex Liquors at 1334 Eastern Blvd. in Baltimore.
