Dundalk Woman Wins $250,000 Mega
Millions Prize
(Baltimore) – Mega Millions sales
were just about to close on Friday when Sarbjit Kaur stopped to put
gas in her car. “I saw the jackpot was $48 million dollars,” she
said. “So, I bought one ticket.” That one dollar purchase paid off
big. Sarbjit matched all five numbers from Friday night’s drawing
except for the Mega Ball to win the second-tier prize of $250,000.
The winning numbers were 24, 28, 36, 50, 53 and Mega Ball 21.
The 22-year-old college student and
hospital employee didn’t know that she was a winner until the next
day at around 4 pm. Her father told her that there was a winning
ticket sold at the place she purchased hers. Sarbjit phoned the
Lottery to get the winning numbers. When the Lottery official told
her what they were, she was still skeptical so she went online and
checked the numbers again. “I had to pinch myself,” she said
giggling.
Sarbjit immediately called her father
and brother. Her brother refused to believe her until he saw the
ticket for himself. Sarbjit, who was accompanied to Lottery
Headquarters by her dad and brother, said that it was a sleepless
Sunday night. She intends to use some of the money for an engagement
party as well as to pay off credit cards and her student loan
There was no jackpot Friday’s night,
making tomorrow night’s drawing worth $60 million. The multi-state
Mega Millions game is played in 12 states, including
Maryland, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey,
New York, Ohio, Virginia, Washington, Texas and California.
The winning ticket was purchased at Pulaski Hess located at 6715
Pulaski Hwy. in Baltimore.
