From Paper Plates to $250,000
Eastern Shore Man Claims Mega Millions Prize

(Baltimore) – When a 59-year-old Worcester County resident was hearing his lucky numbers, he started reaching for anything handy to write the numbers down on. He ended up scribbling the numbers onto a paper plate. He may be trading the paper for fine china after his $250,000 second-tier Mega Millions win.

The lucky winner purchased several Mega Millions tickets on Tuesday for that night’s drawing. Later, at home that evening, he watched the broadcast of the winning numbers, grabbing the plate and writing quickly. “Right away, I checked to see if I matched the Mega Ball on any of my tickets,” said the winner. When he realized that he didn’t, he started checking the rest on his numbers one by one. “The numbers on one of the tickets started matching one after the other,” he said. At that point, I couldn’t even look at any of the other tickets.” When he finished checking, he was $250,000 richer.

The lucky winner plans to use his winnings to help purchase a ranch. The winning ticket was purchased at American Pride located on Racetrack Road in Berlin.
