Baltimore Woman Almost Throws Out Fiancé’s $10,000 Winning Ticket

(Baltimore) – Rico Abrew’s fiancé was cleaning out his car when she asked him if the Maryland Lottery scratch-off sitting on the front seat was a winner.  She had no idea the ticket she was about to throw away was worth $10,000.  “I didn’t think we had a winning ticket,” she said.  “I had already put it in the trash bag.”

Rico, who plays scratch-offs a few times a week, said his fiancé got him hooked.  He bought his first Fill’er Up ticket on Tuesday, and beginner’s luck kicked in, as he scratched-off the ticket’s last remaining top-prize.  Rico, 22, plans to use his winnings toward their upcoming trip to Las Vegas, where he hopes his lucky streak will continue.

The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven on Powder Mill Road in Beltsville.
