Quick Pick Brings Lottery Luck to Hampstead ManThursday, October 24th, 2013
Winner Claims $50,000 Bonus Match 5 Prize With All Taxes Paid
A Carroll County man is enjoying a sweet $50,000 Bonus Match 5 Maryland Lottery win after playing a combination of machine quick picks, randomly selected numbers and numbers from restaurant fortune cookies.
The Hampstead resident bought nine boards for the Lottery game on Oct. 18, playing the same numbers seven days in a row. At first, when he scanned his ticket, he thought good fortune had passed him by.
“I was starting to give up, but something told me to go back and look again,” our winner told Lottery officials. The 44-year-old husband was at home with his wife and his dog when he discovered that one of the machine’s four quick-pick selections won on Oct. 22. He quickly tucked the winning ticket away in his wallet and made a trip to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim his prize. The father of two is keeping the great news quiet and only shared it with members of his immediate family.
The self-employed contractor has played Lottery games for 10 years, winning smaller amounts with Keno and Bonus Match 5. This win hit during a special Bonus Match 5 promotion that offers chances to double your prize and have all taxes paid on prizes of $50,000 and $100,000 through Nov. 10. Our winner said he plans to pay off some bills and take his family on a Disney cruise.
He found his winning ticket at Hampstead Liquors located at 720 Hanover Pike in Hampstead.
