Game Offers Six New, Two Revised Betting Options

The Maryland Lottery Racetrax player just couldn’t believe her eyes! Her four computer-animated horses had thundered down the track and crossed the finish line together – just as she’d bet they would. Her decision to try the game’s new Superfecta Box wager – pick four horses to place 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in any order – won $10,314!

“I bought my ticket after work at a gas station, but I didn’t watch the race,” said the Howard County resident. Her lucky gas station is the Citgo Xtra Mart at 7237 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. She placed the $24 bet and then the race got underway.

“I looked at the screen before I left and saw numbers that I recognized,” the lucky woman said. “I started to get excited.” Our winner knew that she had won, but not the exact amount. “When I found out how much it was, I was stunned. I kept asking the clerk if it was real.”

The Ellicott City woman is the first to claim a major win on the new bet option, which is one of six new bet types and two revised bet types launched April 21. The game now offers an Exacta, Exacta Box and Exacta Wheel bet plus a Superfecta, Superfecta Box and Superfecta Wheel bet.

The 40-year-old cashier has long been a fan of the popular monitor game that features 3-D horseracing animation and racetrack-style betting. The new wagers offer a play experience more like that at an actual racetrack.

Our winner plans to spend her prize on debts. “I’ve wanted to pay off these bills for a long time but just haven’t been able to get ahead of them,” she said. “Now I can, and it will be very nice to put them behind me.”
