Recently Engaged Easton Woman Wins $50,000 Instantly
Friday, December 4th, 2009You’d think that a $50,000 Lottery win would be the high-point of just about anyone’s week. What could possibly top it? Just ask Lee Shorter of Easton who got engaged the same week that she won the Money Surplus top prize.
Lee, a 22-year-old online researcher, played the new Money Surplus scratch-off this morning when she accompanied her mom to the store to cash a winning Pick 3 ticket. She played her scratch-off in the car while talking with her mom, but the talking soon stopped.
“I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” Lee told officials. “So I had my mom look.” The two returned to the store for further confirmation and then headed off for a breakfast date with Lee’s dad and the newest addition to the family – her fiancée. The couple got engaged on Thanksgiving Day. “We broke the news there in the restaurant, it was a memorable meal.”
The future bride will dedicate some of her winnings to wedding expenses. She also plans to make this holiday season a very special one for her family.
Lee found her Lottery luck at Wishing Well Liquors, 786 Idlewild Ave. in Easton.
