Mobile App

Maryland Lottery players now have another way to access daily numbers, search for scratch-offs and more, courtesy of the new MD Lottery mobile app developed by Gray Kirk/VanSant Advertising Inc (GKV). The free app, which launched in October, is available for download on all iOS and Android devices.

“We are pleased to offer another avenue for players to connect with the Maryland Lottery,” said Stephen Martino, director of the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. “Research has shown that more of our players are accessing information through smart phones and tablets. This app will allow them easier access to the information and features they want most.”Maryland Lottery players now have another way to access daily numbers, search for scratch-offs and more, courtesy of the new MD Lottery mobile app developed by Gray Kirk/VanSant Advertising Inc (GKV). The newly-designed app keeps users updated on winning numbers, jackpot amounts, and the latest Maryland Lottery promotions. It includes the following features:

  • Random number generator: Users simply shake their device or tap, “new numbers,” to generate random numbers for Multi-Match, Mega Millions and Powerball.
  • “Find My Game”: Users can answer a few simple questions about their mood and preferences to learn which Maryland Lottery game is best suited for them.
  • Jackpot and winning number alerts: Push notifications are available for users who wish to be alerted when jackpots reach a desired level and when the latest winning numbers are available.
  • Scratch-off search: Users can search for scratch-offs by name, start dates, My Lottery Rewards eligibility, ticket descriptions, prizes remaining and relevant second-chance promotions.

“Mobile apps are a known and effective way to reach Lottery players, allowing players to receive alerts and reminders, find winning numbers, compare scratch-off games and more, all with a flick of their finger. The new app will build a deeper connection between the player and the Maryland Lottery brand,” said John Marsh vice president/director of Client Digital Services.

The Lottery first launched a mobile web platform in Feb. 2012 and has seen traffic increase significantly. During September, more mobile users accessed the Lottery’s website than traditional desktop users, totaling 1.8 million mobile views.

“The MD Lottery app represents a commitment by the Lottery to address the consumer’s desire for the information they want when they want it — all in the palm of their hand. Technology-wise, this has been an exciting process for both GKV and the Maryland Lottery team. Using Cloud technologies, we’ve been able to make Lottery data available across a variety of mobile devices, from tablets to smartphones, and we’re well-positioned for the anticipated growth in the mobile market,” said Alexei “Al” Yukna, senior vice president/chief digital officer for GKV.
