Finds $50,000 winning 5x Cash Club Lottery ticket in Frederick

145-5X-Cash-Club-ITVMThe old saying, “third time’s the charm,” certainly came true for one lucky Maryland Lottery player. The Frederick man found a $50,000 winning ticket the third time he bought the new 5x Cash Club scratch-off.

The senior citizen tried his Lottery luck around midday at Giant Eagle located at 1000 W. Patrick St. in his hometown. He scratched the ticket off right in the store and immediately realized the size of his win! The 70-year-old alerted only the store manager and then quietly left the retailer. He placed the ticket in his truck for safekeeping.

The happy winner and his adult son came to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the ticket’s top prize. A retired federal government employee, our winner is also a retired U.S. Army sergeant and has decades of combined public and military service. Playing scratch-offs is his hobby and he wins often enough to break even, he said.

This $50,000 prize is the great-grandfather’s largest win by far. He plans to make improvements to his home with his prize and keep on playing Lottery scratch-offs!
