Three’s the Charm for Odenton Man

Monday, March 21st, 2011

Money-ManiaThe 57-year-old Odenton man is a self-described “routine type of guy.” Part of his routine is stopping Monday through Friday on his way home from work and buying a couple $10 scratch-off tickets.  Last Thursday, he didn’t diverge from his usual custom, but he did alter his ticket choice when there were no $10 instant tickets available.

“I told the clerk to give me a couple $5 scratch-offs instead,” said the father-of-three. When he saw that there were only three tickets left on the roll, he decided to just get them all. The “routine guy’s” spontaneity soon paid off when he discovered his $50,000 windfall on that third and last ticket.

“I scratched it at a traffic light,” said the winner. “I saw it and thought ‘wait a minute.’”

When he got to the next traffic light, he looked at it again and then about ten more times in disbelief. “I didn’t believe it until I showed it to my wife. She was amazed.”

With his 15-year-old car on its last leg, the store owner intends to use his winnings to purchase a new vehicle. He also has plans to invest in his IRA and perhaps do a few things around the house.

Fully intending to continue his Lottery play, the winner remarked, “You never know what will happen. This was a very pleasant surprise.” The winning ticket was purchased at his “routine” stop, Crofton Exxon, located at 1276 Route 3 South in Crofton.
