Two Big Mega Millions Wins in Maryland

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

$250,000 tickets sold in Prince George’s County and Anne Arundel County

Mega Millions players in Maryland are on a winning streak in recent weeks.  Only a few days after a similar second-tier win in Elkton, this morning finds two more Marylanders suddenly $250,000 richer.  Last night’s lucky tickets were sold at West Laurel Exxon, located at 15151 Sweitzer Lane in Laurel and Harwood Market, located at 4450 Solomon’s Island Rd. in Harwood.  Since no one hit the jackpot, Friday night’s drawing will be worth $53 million and carry a cash option of $34.6 million.  The winning numbers were 9, 10, 20, 51, 53 and Mega Ball 24.  That Mega Ball, 24, was the one number last night’s winners missed.

With these two winners, Maryland has sold 11 second-tier Mega Millions tickets this year.  Along with last night’s winners, a ticket sold at Riverdale BP in Riverdale on March 26th remains unclaimed.  All prizes must be claimed within 182 days of the drawing date.

The multi-state Mega Millions game is played in 42 jurisdictions – including Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia. Mega Millions drawings can be seen on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11:22 pm on WBAL-TV, channel 11.

should extend time to claim all prizes to 1 year – 182 days is more difficult to calculate since months have different # of days

  • Yes I agree! It does seem like most of the big winners are in certain geographic areas. I wonder how they would feel if it were the other way around. Maybe certain people in certain geographic areas might have to consider driving to certain areas to purchase tickets during the week.

  • I agree.I does seem like certain geographic areas always have big winners! It doesn’t seem fair.I wander how they fill if it were the other way around.

I got super excited there for a minute, as I buy from the West laurel EXXON on Sandy Spring Road. 🙁
Congrats to those 2 lucky winners. I know that it has made a world of differrence.
Its about time Laurel has finally won. I hope my time is up next for the BIG WIN!

    GOOD luck to everyone.

  • Yes I agree with Tonya. There are hardly any big winners in low income communities. We play dayly when they only play when the pots are big.I been playing this number for 20 years. Never has it come out. (1901)
My sister said put that money in the bank instead of the Lottery.
    Thanks for your time

    Love playing.Need a hit

  • I just want to say that it seems like no one in the lower income communities that do play alot of the lottery dont hit and I wonder if its the machines that they get for their store.

tonya: Thanks for writing in. The geographic locations of our winners are completely random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. Please take a look at our winners stories. There you’ll see that we have winners from all over the State.
