White Marsh Woman Breaks the Bank with $10,000 Scratch-OffFriday, May 29th, 2009
A White Marsh woman did not expect that an ordinary trip to the gas station would break the bank. But much to her surprise, the 51-year-old won $10,000 from the Maryland Lottery’s Break the Bank scratch-off.
“I was stunned,” she told Lottery officials on Monday when she came to claim her prize. “I never win anything.” Although she plays scratch-offs several times a week, this was her first time playing this particular game.
The lucky winner and her husband, who have been married for 15 years, plan to put their winnings toward their retirement. “Maybe this will help that day come a little sooner,” the winner’s husband said. The couple hopes to retire to Myrtle Beach in the near future.
The winning ticket was purchased at Carroll Island Amoco on 17 Carroll Island Road in Baltimore.
